Yonghee Suh, Ph.D.
Yonghee Suh, Ph.D. is an associate professor of social studies/history Education at Old Dominion University and serves as the head program director. She researches disciplinary literacy practices in social studies/history and English, focusing on how teachers and students engage a variety of texts such as primary sources, historical novels, and textbooks. Her work has been published in venues such as Theory and Research in Social Education, the History Teacher, Journal of Social Studies Research , and English Journal among others. As a former middle school teacher and a current teacher educator, she has extensive experience working with pre- and in-service teachers through multiple grants from National Endowment for the Humanities, National Science Foundation, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, and 4VA initiatives. Suh was a visiting scholar at University of Wisconsin-Madison during the spring semester of 2016.
