Brian Daugherity, Ph.D.
Brian Daugherity, Ph.D. , is an assistant professor of history at Virginia Commonwealth University. His current research focuses on the implementation of Brown v. Board of Education in Virginia. In addition to the history of school desegregation, he is also interested in the Civil Rights Movement more broadly, as well as Southern race relations. He has received a number of grants to fund his research, from Duke University, the Virginia Historical Society, the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities, and the College of William & Mary, among others. In 2008, Dr. Daugherity co-edited a collection of essays examining the implementation of Brown v. Board of Education in various states around the nation, entitled With All Deliberate Speed: Implementing Brown v. Board of Education (University of Arkansas Press, 2008).
